This document is outdated and is only for historical reference, time permitting, I will be creating a similar page for the ipod Touch / iPhone
Hi, my name is Dafin and I love palmOS!
Why?
Its one the oldest PDA OS around and therefore mature. Sure Microsoft is now very much in the scene and symbian has gone leaps and bounds since it first came out, but for now anyways palm is my mobile OS of choice.
I have hundreds of palm programs and even more games. I love the palm treo (evidently so does MS, hence them buying into palmone for the treo7xx W series), but as I do depend on this device as a phone as well, it is important that it never, or at least rarely crashes.
I own a treo 600 (Original Handspring,) and a Sony Clie nr70 (Sony dumped the clie series for the PSP, ..bah..)
2day
Great Software, lets me know what appointments are coming up as well as indicators for;
Battery, Signal Strength, Missed Calls. IM, SMS, email. 2day Can be set to be the default Startup App. Note this option will slow down your treo by about .25 to 0.5 of a second - I have it turned off..
Has some nifty plugins in development as well. I use the weather and Quicknews RSS feed plugin. Quite an essential programm this!
Resco Explorer
Oh yes ,finally a windows explorer-like interface to Palm. Kudos to resco for this one! This program is not free like filez, but is definatly worth it if you like to mange your RAM/SD Card files on your palm. Zip File handling is one of the best features IMHO, basic backup features (works best with resco backup). Usually one the first programs to get installed after a rare hard reset. While im at it, I should also also mention resco viewr, the image slideshow/ powerpointviwer of my choice. Go Resco!
Butler
This App is simply a gem. I used to use a pager in the late 90's and loved the way it would remind that a message was waiting for me every few minutes by beeping or vibrating every couple of minutes until i acknoladged it. Butler does the same. Now I can get back to people much sooner if i happened to miss their call/text - when my treo is not on my person, and yes such times do exist!
Hi Launcher
There are dozens of good application launchers. Also can be used as a DA desktop Accesory Launcher. This was the most efficient for me, and as much as I hate MS, the start menu paradigm works really well, (maybe cause we are used to it?) and it pops/animates over your current app. If you are looking for a free, bog-standard launcher, I will have to point you to the minimal yet ever elegant ScrnButton
Datebk5
Agendus is the real only competiter here, and whilst quite feature packed and prettier, Datebk5 wins here. The creator of this app programmed Datebk (cut-down version)for palm and hence is rock stable unlike Agendus. Agendus can be better if your work is contact-centric, wheras Datebk wins on Calender-centric planning.
Snappermail
We are pretty much spoilt for choice here, Snappermail handles attatchments quite well (Stores to the SD Card). Notable mentions goto chattermail-Push mail, Inbox to go- synchs to Outlook via hotsynch,
Mem
This App is simply a gem. I used to use a pager in the 90's and loved th way it would remind that a message was waiting for me every few minutes
Other
Ptunes- Best Palm MP3 Player, psmemo-Enchanced memopad replacement, memeoleaf-Advanced memopad replacement, isilo-eBook reader, tube2- London Underground Journey Planner, Tealalias- Memory Card Launcher, Xino- Internet browser - handles frames much better.

Introduction Why does this page exist?
This page was created initially to list all the programs and games that I had installed on my palms. After a couple of months I realised that it may be as valuable information as i thiught it would be. Plenty of palm proggies can be found at mytreo.net, freewarepalm, and many more more if you google around. It is after all a computer. Crashes Occur Useally on the palm due to poorly programmed programms but also can be due to conflicts between progammes.
This Page outlines some of the software I use and have even come to depend on. I have tried near enough all the "good" and usefull programs, and in an attept to keep my PDA stable and useable, I actually keep a bare minimum in the internal ram. Here follows whats on Dafin's treo.
